It's Official

She was In remission” replaces “We Were On a Break” as the hot new cheating-on-your girl catchphrase.

Some notes:

  • What makes this story so interesting for us was the "Nah-nah-nah-we're-not-listening" approach taken by the national media. We were told 18 months ago that Edwards was stepping out with a blonde close to his campaign, and we're nobodies. So what took so long for the reporters to, er, report on it?
  • We read a long time ago that the National Enquirer was among the most accurate of all the news outlets, if only because they get sued so often. If they say they've got something, odds are it's impeccably sourced.
  • Best analysis we've heard yet: that by ignoring the story, the media inadvertently threw the nomination to Obama. Edwards finished 2nd in some key races. if he was out, those delegates would have gone to Hillary, and would have diminished Obama's early momentum.

If We've Said it Once, We've Said it a Thousand Times

Girls just shouldn't try to talk politics.

Gloria Steinem, explaining to some British bird why Hilary Clinton should not accept the position of Vice President:
“It’s not an independent position, to put it mildly. I would rather see her as the president of the Senate.” via Financial Times.
The President of the Senate, of course, is none other than .... the Vice President of the United States.

thanks to Opinion journal.com for pointing this out.
